Welcome

Founded in 1890, Charnwood Forest Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Leicestershire and is one of the most beautiful and unique nine-hole courses in England.  Whether you are looking to join a golf club, or to play as a visitor, you are sure of a warm welcome from the members and staff at Charnwood Forest Golf Club.

Our course is set amongst the ancient Hanging Stone Rocks and is surrounded by the picturesque scenery of Charnwood Forest. As the subsoil is mostly rock our course drains particularly well and is playable all year round.

The original layout was later influenced by James Braid, and makes full use of the natural environment to create a truely enjoyable golfing challenge. The course is designed to make full use of the natural contours of this beautiful area, including a variety of outstanding features such as ancient rock formations, heather, gorse, bracken and dry stone walls. Since 1890, the course has undergone many changes, but there has been no deviation from Braid's original vision of heathland golf.

When playing 18 holes the course is measured at 6145 yards for men and 5425 yards for ladies, with pars of 69 and 71, respectively. The nine high quality and memorable holes feature fast and true greens which often include subtle and challenging borrows. To make up the 18- hole format, each hole is played from different tee positions, some of which are elevated and dramatically change both the angle and the distance of the tee shot.

If you want a golfing challenge, set in beautiful countryside, then come and try our unique course.
